If you are an intensely involved MoveSMART® trainer, it’s probably easy for you to remember all the techniques and principles covered in the program. For those not as heavily involved, (everyone else in the world) the details are harder to remember.
The old KISS formula (Keep It Simple Stupid) is worth keeping in mind when working with others.
Simply stated: Don’t overload people.
For example, if you’re looking at one task, focus on the most important one or two techniques and principles that will make the job easier and safer. Emphasize those one or two things. Don’t unload the entire arsenal of MoveSMART techniques for the person to try to remember.
Picking out the one or two things that will get the most bang for the buck makes life a lot simpler for everyone. And it enhances the chances that they will be used.
